Lathes
Boring lathes series ABD
Boring lathes of series ABD are especially designed for simultaneously
machining outside and inside of cylindrical work pieces.
Work pieces are supported in extraordinarily heavy duty steady rests provided
with four square supporting quills. The quills can be hydraulically adjusted also under load.
ROTTLER has designed a special bed for this series of machines, which varies
totally from conventional concepts. The machines are provided with two beds over
the complete machine length. In the area of work piece the front bed is used for
supporting the outside turning unit. In the back area of the boring bar the movable
upper bed is superimposed. The upper bed can be adjusted hydraulically based on the
work piece dimensions. Thus the center height is reduced and an optimized force ratio
in connection to the feed transmission can be reached.
The boring bar end is designed to carry boring heads of different size and style.
When equipped with a live center the bar also serves as a tailstock quill. The coolant
is led by hoses and pipes through the hollow bar to the boring tool.
