Vertical turning centers series DV and DAV
The basic machine concept of the machines of series DV consists of two separate main
sub-assemblies – these are the column unit and the faceplate / table unit. From these
two sub-assemblies – designed as vertical lathe, machines were produced for combined
machining operation (turning – milling – drilling – grinding).
They are used for machining rings for large diameter anti-friction bearings, roller
slewing rings, toothed rings, special flanges or ring frames for aeronautical and
astronautical equipment. Also vertical and outer machining of cylinders is possible.
Separation of the sub-assemblies makes variant solutions possible which can not
be realized with conventional standard machines.
Ring-shaped work pieces to be machined are clamped with a special clamping
device mounted to the faceplate of the machining center. Together with the
faceplate drive, the machine is provided in total with four NC continuous path controlled motional axes.
All moving axes are provided with anti-friction elements, which are pre-stressed
and free of backlash. They are guided on hardened steel block rails.
Special lathe tools are used for inside and outside diameter turning.
These tools are clamped by an automatic tool clamping system with HSK-A 100 tool holding fixture.
For peripheral milling operation and milling on the inside, angular heads in exchange
for turning tools can be automatically loaded and clamped by a changer unit. The
angular heads are driven by the vertical milling spindle. The same tool holding
fixture of the milling spindle is also used for clamping the lathe tools and is
hydraulically and positively locked for turning operations.

Vertical machining centers of the series DAV
are especially designed for the economical machining of work pieces made of carbon.
Based on the specific cutting properties of carbon the
machine concept and feed and speed rates have been selected.
Special attention was paid to the high amount of carbon dust which is generated during the machining process.
All guiding elements, electrical equipment and motors are protected by especially designed protection units.
The machine can be used for outside machining as well
as for internal machining operations. A continuous path milling operation is also possible.
