The grain chiller essentially consists of a compressor/condenser unit and an evaporator unit with high pressure blower, which are assembled - together with the necessary refrigeration accessories and an electric switch cabinet, type IP 65, on a mobile, injection-galvanized, colour-coated hollow profile base. The parts of the plant are protected from bad weather conditions by a weatherproof roof from a high quality steel or galvanized steel plate of which the surface has been coated several times. The grain chiller can be supplied either with pneumatic tyres or on swivel-mounted castors.
The grain chillers of the GKT series have a high airflow capacity to make also use of natural ventilation in an optimal way, and they have a high refrigerating capacity for a short operating time. The sophisticated high-pressure blower is speed-controlled and has been designed for a multiple of the required minimum air rate. The modern PLC controls ensure an optimal air volume current according to the operating conditions concerned whereby the system runs safely and independent from the counter pressure of the silo or the flat bearing. The units, optionally available with pneumatic tyres, are equipped with an adjustable drawbar axle with drawbar eye, as well as with a parking brake, wheel chocks, 4 lowerable and arrestable galvanized supports to ensure optimal orientation of the unit on different bases. On request the units can be licensed for public roads. Instead of the drawbar eye the units can be equipped with couplings which are suitable for regular cars.
A cereal temperature sensor is required for the switch-off automation (cooling stop). It can be connected to the unit by means of a plug-in cable of nearly any desired length. The units are equipped with an over dimensioned easily accessible filter box with integrated grating to protect from bad weather conditions. For this filter box you can use cost-favorable rolls of the G4 filter class.
Reheating of the air current is necessary to ensure optimal protection of the cereal from humidity under all weather conditions and operating conditions. In WEISSHAAR's GKT grain chillers this energy is normally obtained from the cooling circuit. Otherwise the energy would escape to the environment. The reheating register can be controlled fully automatically and it can be set based on precise graduation.
In special cases an electrical reheating can be built in optionally. The units are equipped with large-surface inspection openings which have been fastened with machine bolts to ensure access to the cooling or reheating registers.
The corrugated hose, used for supply of the cold air, has the following characteristics: non spiral sleeves matching all unit connections, compressed to 20 % of their total length, light and very flexible, but also robust and resistant, good flow conditions, non-abrasive thanks to outer abrasion proof protection strip, some of them with sewn-in pocket to ensure easy handling, diameter from 250 mm to 1,000 mm, temperature range from -40°C to +150°C, bending radius, 1/2 d, compact with tension belts and transition piece on grain cooler.
The units GKT 41 to GKT 481 are equipped with a sophisticated PLC with self-control. It is programmed by the buttons, unit conditions and faults are directly displayed on the display. Furthermore this PLC offers the possibility of updates according to newly developed software and even optional transmission of current temperature and possible fault messages by SMS - short messages to any desired mobile phone. Thus, the information is sequentially stored in the memory of all pieces of equipment and lists of events or errors.
The procedure of management can be carried out using 4 automatic programs which can help a user to control power optimization settings. GKT 41 to GKT 481 models have series of so-called stop functions for the cooling system, triggered when the measured temperature reaches the certain point. Such control measure does not depend on the backpressure, created by a silo or a storage. In such a way it does not disturb any functionality.
The means of adjustment and control, based on a modular software-managed PLC controller, can receive software updates. A memory card is replaced in case of development of new software, without the need to perform any on-site adjustment events.
